What's the most memorable moment of your career so far?

The most memorable moment was winning the first round at the US Open in 2022. Playing at a Grand Slam has always been a boyhood dream, so reaching the second round was an incredible feeling.

How do you mentally prepare for big matches?

Mentally, I prepare for matches by sticking to routines that have worked for me in the past. This includes warm-up routines, checking my equipment, and focusing on my thoughts before isolating myself to get in the right mindset.

What are your favorite tennis memories from your youth?

Competing with the T.V. Hoorn team and traveling across the Netherlands for matches fostered a great team spirit. Also, combining tournaments with family vacations, whether in a caravan or tent, holds fond memories. And of course, winning open tournaments as a youngster was always a highlight.

Which aspects of your game have you developed the most since turning professional?

Over the years, my service has significantly improved in both accuracy and consistency. Additionally, I've become more aggressive with my forehand, and mentally, I'm much stronger, with better game insight and resilience.

What does a typical training day look like for you?

A typical day involves two tennis sessions, each lasting around two hours. Before training, I spend 30 minutes warming up, then rest and refuel between sessions. Afterward, I focus on stretching and recovery, sometimes visiting my physio for additional care.

Which tennis player(s) do you admire the most and why?

I admire Nadal for his relentless determination and positive attitude on the court, qualities that set a great example for all players.

What are your goals for this season and long-term?

This season, my goals include winning a challenger tournament and qualifying for Grand Slams. Long-term, I aim to break into the top 100 rankings, a dream I've been close to but haven't quite achieved.

How do you handle the pressure and expectations of professional tennis?

After many years, you get used to the pressure and expectations. I remind myself that I play because I love the sport, which helps keep the pressure at bay. Focusing on giving my all on the court rather than dwelling on expectations is key.

What do you do to prevent injuries and stay in top form?

I prioritize stretching and regularly visit my physio for check-ups to address any potential issues before they become injuries. Early detection and intervention are crucial in maintaining peak physical condition.

Outside of tennis, what are your hobbies and interests?

Outside of tennis, I enjoy playing other sports like golf and padel, especially with friends for a good laugh. I'm also a fan of outdoor activities, particularly during the summer months.
